Wow...so that was sad and inapproitate.

    This was going to be about new year, new you. Or is it new year, fuck you? I think that's what happened yesterday when a basic action performed by our government. One that most folks like myself were not even aware of. I have never in my life saw or cared about the certification of electoral votes in my life. But yesterday that was all different.

    That is one hell of an image to see when all that is happening is certification of some votes. Seeing this happen really got me upset. This was just NOT a protest of who won the election. This was a straight attempt at overthrowing our government. 

    Look, I wasn't happy with Trump being elected and I would argue that the violence that occured on inauguration day was criminal. But it was followed by a massive Women's March that was a protest against everything he stood for. The Black Lives Matters protests you saw on television were peaceful protests. Were some bad actors involved using it as cover for violence? Yes. And some of those bad actors were actually various white supremacist who were trying to make the peaceful protests look violent. Mission accomplished if you saw the news on Fox or OAN. What occurred yesterday was straight up violence. 

    I am raising two small children in this world. One of which has special needs. And I was damn scared that I was going to have to live through a civil war while also trying to make sure my son learns and gets treated with the respect he deserves. The past four years have been full so much bullshit. I was also concerned that my work would call everyone in to deal with possible spill over of the days events. It really made me upset that I would have to risk my life not because of a fire, but because of someone else's ideals and how brain washed they are acting.

    Hopefully this doesn't happen again. Unfortunately, I think the people who perpetrated the crime will learn nothing from it. In fact, they will take it as a badge of honor that they could do it. I am hoping that despite the uneven police response to this event compared to other peaceful protests, that the arrests are coming. After all, if you choose not to wear a mask despite a mandate, don't think the Capital Region doesn't have HD cameras all over. If you are protesting big government, you did so in the wrongest way possible. You were IN the center of big government. Can't wait to see the line up.
